Independent acoustic walls between homes & flats
Neighbour noise through a shared wall is the single most common acoustic job we are called to in Basingstoke — particularly in newer semis, converted terraces and flats where the party wall is a single skin of blockwork.
Airborne noise is beaten with mass and separation. A proper party wall treatment means an independent frame that never touches the existing wall, dense mineral wool in the void, and two layers of acoustic plasterboard with staggered, sealed joints. Every rigid connection you leave behind — a batten, a screw, a skirting nailed through — becomes a path for the sound you are trying to stop.
At survey we work out whether what you are hearing is genuinely airborne, or impact noise flanking through the floor and ceiling. That determines the design, and it is why we tell you at the survey what result to realistically expect before you spend anything.
